A total of 283 individuals have been hospitalized statewide.

WEST CHESTER, PA — Pennsylvania reported its sixth death from the measles outbreak this week as cases continue to rise in parts of the state.

Chester County, which has been an epicenter of the outbreak for months, has finally seen a decline in new cases.

The county currently has 94 cases, with only two new cases reported over the past two weeks.

That still positions it as the third most impacted county in the state, but it is faring far better than Lancaster (504 cases) or Mifflin (205 cases) counties.

The outbreak has impacted area school districts and briefly led to a closure of a high school this autumn.

Statewide, 45 counties have at least one case, with 1,467 cases overall, according to the Department of Health.

There have also been 283 hospitalizations around the state.

"While daily numbers fluctuate, tracking these trends provides Pennsylvanians and health care providers with visibility into community transmission across the Commonwealth and helps inform DOH's ongoing robust response," the Department of Health shared in their latest update on Thursday.

More than 6,800 vaccinations have been administered at 241 pop-up vaccination clinics around the state since the outbreak began in April.

Authorities urge residents to get vaccinated if they have not already received a shot.

Pharmacies, health care providers, county or municipal health department, and the DOH State Health Center all offer vaccines.
