Armed Man Struggles With Police Outside Kildare's In West Chester

Police said an officer's badge was ripped off during the incident and that "criminal charges may be filed" if someone is holding on to it.

WEST CHESTER, PA — An armed man struggled with police during an altercation outside of Kildare's in West Chester over the weekend, authorities said.

An officer's badge was ripped off during the event and has since gone missing.

The incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday morning, Aug. 4, at around 1:20 a.m. in front of Kildare's Pub on the 50 block of West Gay Street.

Police were in the process of arresting the armed man when the badge was torn off, officials said.

The individual has not been identified and it's not clear how the struggle began or what charges he faces.

Police are asking for the public's help in returning the badge.

"Should the badge be found in anyone's possession at a later date, criminal charges may be warranted," the department said Wednesday.
