Arson Investigation Underway After West Chester Fire

A fire which damaged an apartment building in West Chester was intentionally set, police believe.

WEST CHESTER, PA — A fire which damaged an apartment building in West Chester was intentionally set, police believe.

The incident occurred on Aug. 7 at around 4:20 p.m. at the Hannum Gardens Apartments, located at 601 Downingtown Pike.

When first responders arrived on scene, they were able to quickly put out the flames in the unit, adjacent to N. Everhart Street.

The apartment where the fire occurred was occupied at the time of the fire, but no one was injured.

A man was seen fleeing the area where the fire was set, police said, and they received further intelligence that it had been done intentionally.

West Chester Police are being assisted by the Chester County Fire Marshal's Office in the investigation.
