Local Acme Nears Final Approval To Sell Beer
It would mark the eighth Acme in Pennsylvania to sell beer. Should more grocery stores be granted liquor licenses?

PAOLI, PA -- The Paoli Acme is planning on selling beer in a restaurant inside its store, and the Tredyffrin Township Board of Supervisors will not stand in its way.
The board unanimously approved Acme's request during the board of supervisors meeting on Monday.
The approval granted that a liquor license could be transferred from outside of the township - the Valley Restaurant in Coatesville - to within the township - Acme.

Such liquor license transfers must be approved by Tredyffrin Township.
"What we're requesting is nothing new or unusual,"said Mark Kosar, an attorney with Flaherty and O'Hara who was representing Acme during the public hearing portion of the meeting.

Kosar noted that the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board had approved more than 300 restaurants in recent years to sell beer inside of grocery stores, including seven other Acmes around the state.
The Paoli Acme, on 39 Leopard Road, would be the eighth.
"The restaurant will be bright, well-lit, and inviting," Kosar said.
Beer will be available for consumption on premise and to go. A wide selection of foods, including sandwiches, salad, chicken wings, and meatballs, will also be available for take out or to eat-in.
Kosar noted in the future that Acme may wish to sell wine for on-premise consumption.
The restaurant, which is slated to be 38,000 square feet, will have seating for 30.
The next step is approval from the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board.
