A new campaign ad released by Montgomery County’s First Assistant District Attorney Kevin Steele levels blame against his opponent for not pursuing sexual assault charges against Bill Cosby.
Steele, who is running for District Attorney against former DA Bruce Castor, would not be as lenient on sexual predators as Castor, the ad asserts.
Castor, who was the county DA from 2000 to 2008, was at the helm in 2005 when he decided there was insufficient evidence to prosecute Cosby for an alleged sexual assault on Temple student Andrea Constand.

After more than a dozen victims came forward in 2014 to support Constand’s story, Castor admitted to Bloomberg Politics that he could’ve used their testimony to prosecute Cosby. The ad seizes upon this confession, following up by saying definitively: ”But Castor didn’t even try.”
In late September, rumors swirled that current Montgomery County District Attorney Risa Vetri Ferman was seeking to press charges against Cosby. Cosby, in turn, sought a criminal defense lawyer.

Ferman did not confirm or deny that they were looking into the case.
Castor is currently a member of the Montgomery County Board of Commissioners.
