Cell Phone Taped To Sink At West Chester University Bathroom

Breaking: An investigation is underway after a cell phone was found taped inside a bathroom on West Chester University's campus.

WEST CHESTER, PA — An investigation is underway after a cell phone was found taped to a sink at a bathroom on the campus of West Chester University, in an incident which the school is describing as an invasion of privacy.

The school said that a student found the phone and reported the incident.

"The University finds the invasion of privacy deeply disturbing and takes the matter seriously," Nancy Santos Gainer, the school's Executive Director of Office Communications, said in a public statement issued Friday night.

The phone was found in a gender neutral bathroom, according to CBS3. The bathroom was in the E.O. Bull Center on campus, which is the home of the arts and theatre programs.

It's not yet clear if the phone was recording, or for how long it was recording.

Increased patrols have been dispatched across campus and inside campus buildings.

The university is working with the Chester County District Attorney's Office on the investigation.
