WEST CHESTER, PA — A Chester County man has been convicted for the fourth time over the past decade of stalking and harassing a woman, police said.

John V. Kearney, 28, of Oxford, was convicted in the Chester County Court of Common Pleas in March.

Kearney was originally arrested in 2018 after breaking into the woman's home at night, police said, and was charged with defiant trespass and harassment.

In 2020, Kearney followed her to a home in the middle of the night and attempted to contact her, according to police. He later pleaded guilty again, this time to felony stalking in harassment.

Kearney was sentenced to prison but upon release in 2023 he immediately attempted to find the woman, police said. He was rebooked in Chester County Prison.

While there, he spent years writing her letters, and tried to call her more than 236 times between March 7, 2024 and May 12, 2024.

Last month, he was again convicted of 11 counts of stalking and related charges.

Judge Allison Bell Royer will sentence Kearney in the coming weeks.
