Chesterbrook Academy Selected as Apple Distinguished School

Chesterbrook Academy Elementary School in West Chester is pleased to announce that it has been recognized as an Apple Distinguished School for 2021-2024 for its integration of technology into the learning experiences of its students, as well as the professional development of its teachers. Chesterbrook Academy Elementary School was first recognized as an Apple Distinguished School for 2018-2021.

Chesterbrook Academy Elementary School students engage with various forms of technology on a daily basis. The school’s 1:1 iPad program and use of Apple technology has enabled the school’s educators to design and create transformative learning experiences that equip students for the future. The school’s Innovation Lab provides students of all ages with access to MacBook Pros, 3D printers, coding robots, a green screen studio and more. Examples of projects students have completed using Apple technology include:

• Kindergarten students create a quarterly podcast using GarageBand
• First graders used iMovie and green screen technology to record Presidential speeches
• Students in second grade research, write and publish books designed in Pages and learn basic coding concepts with their Memoji
• Third graders use the ARMakr app to learn about issues impacting our oceans, as well as design and code video games using iPad and Scratch
• Fourth grade students design and prototype apps in Keynote as part of an App Design Showcase
• Fifth graders work together to compose original music with GarageBand and publish their work to SoundCloud

All Chesterbrook Academy Elementary School educators are Apple Teachers, and constantly collaborate with each other on the use of technology in the classroom to develop and implement new strategies.
