Child Sex Abuse Suspect Probe Continues: West Whiteland Police
Police said it's likely that many more than four victims of John Stevens suffered from child sexual abuse over the last 20 years.

WEST WHITELAND, PA— West Whiteland Police Chief Lee Benson said Wednesday that police suspect that there are more than just four victims who suffered child sexual abuse by suspect John P. Stevens over the last two decades.
“We are asking the public to come forward if you or anyone you know has further information regarding John Stevens,” the chief said.
Stevens, 54, of West Whiteland, was arrested Friday on charges of sexually assaulting four children over a 20-year period.

In April, two elementary-age children told police they were sexually assaulted by Stevens and two adults told police they were assaulted by Stevens about 20 years ago.

Detective Scott Pezick said it’s unlikely that only the four victims were assaulted by the suspect over that long time period. He also said police also found child pornography in Stevens’ residence.
Chester County District Attorney Deb Ryan said young and innocent children were violated in unimaginable ways by a person who had a responsibility to keep them safe.
“This horrific betrayal will certainly affect their entire family,” Ryan said. “We all commend these
brave children for their courage to speak up despite threats they received.”
Stevens was charged with aggravated indecent assault, endangering the welfare of children, unlawful restraint of a minor, and related charges. He faces more than 20 years in prison in accordance with the state sentencing guidelines.
According to the police complaint:
- A 5-year-old said Stevens sexually assaulted her on three consecutive days and threatened to kill her.
- A 7-year-old boy told police that Stevens inappropriately touched him in the shower on nine occasions. The boy said told Stevens he was old enough to shower himself.
- An adult woman told police that when she was 5 years old Stevens placed her next to a 13-year-old male who sexually assaulted her.
- An adult man recalled that when he was around 6 to 8 years old the two were watching a movie together and Stevens was inappropriately touching himself.
