Comcast Fiber Optic Cables Cut In Chester County, Extensive Damage

Widespread Internet outages occurred after the cables were intentionally cut, police said.

CHESTER COUNTY, PA — A series of Comcast fiber-optic cable lines were cut in Chester County recently, causing residents in numerous municipalities to lose the Internet, police said.

The incident occurred at some point on Jan. 2 in West Brandywine Township.

Internet users in West Brandywine, Honey Brook, Upper Uwchlan, Glenmoore, Downingtown, and other nearby communities were disconnected, according to authorities.

Police described the incident as "criminal mischief" and said the cutting was done intentionally.
