Community Rallies After Devastating West Chester Fire

WEST CHESTER, PA — Donations quickly "maxed out" this weekend as the community displayed overwhelming support in the wake of the devastating West Chester fire.
The blaze late Thursday night at Barclay Friends Senior Living Community, a continuing care facility, destroyed a significant chunk of the home and displaced around 140 seniors. Authorities have not said if there were any deaths; at least 27 were injured and hospitalized.
On Saturday, volunteers collected an "overwhelming" amount of donations from the community, including underwear, toiletries, and other necessities. Authorities posted shortly thereafter on Sunday to state that donations were closed because they had more than they could use.
