Melton Center CommUnity Day

On Sunday, August 19, the Melton Center will hold its second annual CommUnity Day.  The Charles A. Melton Arts & Education Center is a center for personal, professional, cultural and spiritual growth
and has been a part of the West Chester Community for over 80 years, offering programs that help support, educate, and provide a safe environment for the
youth and families of our community.  The
CommUnity Day festival runs from 11AM – 6PM on the grounds of the historic Melton Center in West Chester, 501 East Miner Street in West Chester.  There is ample parking and all are invited to celebrate the Center with Melton family, old and new!

There will be family activities, local vendors, food, raffles, live music featuring jazz group, Aniya and dance
performances by the Melton Center Dance Girls.
The Center will also be holding its basketball summer league competition with Phoenixville (PAPA), Pottstown (Ricketts Olivet Boys & Girls Club) and Conshohocken Recreation.  We are most excited this year to be hosting a dessert competition, which we hope will become a yearly tradition in West Chester.  Many local restaurants such as Roots Café, Voodoo Lounge, Candies Cakes and Cookies, Riggtown Oven and Olive Branch, along with individual bakers, have submitted  desserts. Our Melton celebrity panel of judges, including the tasting talents of Sweet Jazmine’s Bakery in Berwyn, will decide who receives the honor of the “Tastiest Summer Dessert in West Chester” in the Business/Professional and Individual categories.

We are confident that, with community support, each CommUnity Day will be bigger and better than the last. Any and all funds raised will help us address the
Center’s shortfall of operational expenses this year and continue to help us strengthen our guiding principle: to promote understanding and cooperation between all people in the West Chester community.   All donations are 100% tax deductible.  For additional information, please contact
Ken Winston, Executive Director at 610-692-2920.
