Kick off the annual Mushroom Festival at Studio Rilievo, located in the first mushroom house in the mushroom capitol of the world. Artist Neilson Carlin’s Kennett Square studio and school, Studio Rilievo: A New Brandywine Tradition of Art Education, will be open to festival goers throughout the weekend, Sept. 7-9, 2012.
The festivities begin on Friday, Sept. 7 during Kennett Square’s monthly First Friday Art Stroll and continue Saturday and Sunday during the Mushroom Festival. Carlin will conduct three live figure painting demonstrations – the latest installments in a series of educational demonstrations showing his painting process. The events are free and open to the public.

At Studio Rilievo: A New Brandywine Tradition of Art Education, Neilson Carlin offers a full curriculum of classical drawing and painting classes designed for intensive, one-on-one training. “The institutional art school system is failing,” says Carlin. “It is too expensive and no longer adequately focuses on the fundamentals of art. Like my predecessor Howard Pyle, I offer superior training for serious students.”
