Home Explodes In Chester County, 2 Flown To Hospital

Firefighters were kept "exterior only" due to concerns about the structural integrity of the home after the blast.

CHESTER COUNTY, PA — Two people were injured after a home exploded in Chester County over the weekend, according to fire officials.

The incident occurred on Sunday, May 19 at 9:10 a.m. on the 1500 block of Limestone Road in Upper Oxford Township.

The exact cause of the explosion is not yet clear, and the incident remains under investigation by the fire marshal's office.

Firefighters from Cochranville Fire Company and several assisting departments responded to the scene. Crews were kept "exterior only" as they battled the blaze due to concerns about the integrity of the home after the blast.

The victims, identified by NBC Philadelphia as a 70-year-old man and a 75-year-old woman, were flown by JefStat and LifeNet for treatment at nearby hospitals. Their condition is not known, though authorities said they had suffered severe burns.
