Man Allegedly Gunned Down By Next-Door Neighbor Was 'A Friend To Everyone,' Obituary Says
George Brooks Jennings, 51, died Aug. 8 after police said a "long running" dispute with his neighbor in West Goshen Township turned deadly.
WEST CHESTER, PA — A man who was allegedly gunned down by his next-door neighbor following a series of disagreements was remembered in his obituary as a "kind and caring individual and everyone's friend."
George Brooks Jennings, 51, died Aug. 8 after police said a "long running" dispute with his neighbor in West Goshen Township turned deadly.
Clayton P. Carter III, 51, has been charged with first-degree murder in connection with the shooting, which happened mere hours after police had responded to Box Elder Drive for an earlier dispute between the alleged killer and Jennings.

Now the community is coming together to support Jennings' wife, Jill, who heard the first shot and looked out her window. Authorities say she saw her husband lying motionless on the ground when Carter fired the second shot.

Jennings, who has a young son, was pronounced dead at the scene.

George Brooks Jennings of West Chester, died suddenly on Aug. 8th, 2017, at the age of 51. Beloved husband of Jill Jennings (nee Oliver) and devoted father to Matthew Brooks Jennings. He was the son of the late Hollis Lee Jennings Jr and Carol Brooks Jennings; also survived by his brother, Hollis Lee Jennings III (Marsha); nephew, Hollis Lee Jennings IV; and niece, Meredith Brooks Jennings.
His Funeral Service will be held Mon., Aug. 14th, at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 10 W Pleasant Grove Rd., West Chester PA 19382, where the family will receive guests after 9 A.M. Int.
Oaklands Cem. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Jill Jennings Benefit Account at any Fulton Bank location. "He was a kind and caring individual and everyone's friend."
