Man Rescued After Being Stuck Trench In Chester Co.

A man was rescued on Wednesday after he was trapped in a trench in Chester County.

UWCHLAN, PA — A man was rescued on Wednesday after he was trapped in a trench in Chester County.

The incident occurred at around 2 p.m. on June 5 at a construction site on Norwood Road in Uwchlan Township.

When crews arrived on the scene, they found the man stuck up to his waist in sewer excavation, according to the Chester County Rescue Task Force.

Initial attempts to rescue the man were unsuccessful due to his location in the deep, narrow trench, and the soil.

While vacuum trucks began to remove soil from the trench to free the man, paramedics from Berwyn Fire Company went down to begin to treat the man for injuries he had suffered in the fall.

After working for hours, first responders were able to get the man out of the trench by 5 p.m., authorities said. He was taken by ambulance to a nearby trauma center, where he is receiving treatment.

Chester County Rescue Task Force was assisted by Berwyn Fire, Good Fellowship EMS, Chester County IST, and the Montgomery County USAR Team on the scene. Technicians from Lionville and public works employees from East Goshen also assisted. Uwchlan Township Police are investigating the incident.
