The Washington Post reports this month’s mild conditions could be one for the record books. It may be one of the warmest Decembers on recordfor Pennsylvania, according to the Post. Forecasters attribute the mild weather to a strong El Nino pattern.

Michael Ventrice, a seasonal forecaster at WSI, says December 2015 is expected to feature “near record warm weather” in the northern U.S.

“The highly anomalous warmth in December that is anticipated to develop across North America is attributed to weather patterns driven by the strongest El Nino observed in our data archives,” Ventrice said.
