Massive Brush Fire Battled For 4 Hours In West Bradford

It's the second major wildfire in southeastern Pennsylvania in recent weeks.

WEST BRADFORD TOWNSHIP, PA — A major brush fire was battled for hours Sunday night in Chester County.

The fire began at around 8 p.m. off West Strasburg Road.

The cause of the blaze is not yet known, though one 911 caller did report the the fire had enveloped a barn.

It quickly spread across grassy and wooded areas, burning hay bales and other vegetation in the area, officials said.

It took crews around four hours to extinguish the blaze, and they clear of the scene by midnight.

West Bradford Fire Co. was assisted by Po-Mar-Lin Fire Company and others on the scene.

An investigation into the blaze is ongoing. It's the second major brush fire in the greater Philadelphia area in as many weeks, as a major blaze kicked up in Valley Forge National Park earlier in March. Fire officials say that high winds significantly increase the risk of wildfire.
