No 'Legal Basis' For Charges After Chesco School Threat
The threat, made on social media, confused and angered many parents and community members.

CHESTER COUNTY, PA — No charges will be filed in the school threat that shut down a district in Chester County in September.
The incident occurred on Sept. 18 at around 1:48 p.m. at Unionville Elementary School, part of the Unionville-Chadds Ford School District.
The threat was discovered on social media. The precise nature of the threat was not disclosed, leading many parents and community to express frustrations with whe at they called murky and confusing communications.

All schools in the district were placed in "secure status" for a short time while police investigated the threat. A short time later, the schools returned to normal operation.
The Pennsylvania State Police led the investigation after the incident and "determined that there is currently no legal basis to file criminal charges," the Chester County District Attorney's Office said.

"While the lack of charges may be frustrating, the community should take comfort in the fact that law enforcement identified a possible threat on social media and responded quickly to make sure that children and teachers were safe," they added. "A special thanks goes out to the Unionville-Chadds Ford School District staff who worked with law enforcement to protect the investigation while also communicating with parents."
No suspects were revealed during the investigation.
