Officer Nearly Killed In Chester Co. By Speeding Vehicle
Authorities are citing the incident as an example of the need to observe the state's "Move Over" law.
CHESTER COUNTY, PA — A police officer in Chester County that was stopped on the side of the road was nearly killed by a speeding vehicle, authorities said recently, pointing to the importance of drivers being mindful of the state's Move Over law.
The incident occurred on Wednesday, Jan. 29 at around 5:30 p.m. in Kennett Township.
A corporal had pulled her vehicle to the side of the road during a traffic stop on Route 52 south.

As she was standing outside her vehicle, a speeding vehicle blew by and struck the police car's door, destroying the door, officials said.
The corporal was knocked to the ground but only suffered minor injuries, which they called "miraculous."

"This close call was a matter of inches between life and death,” Kennett Township Police Chief Matthew Gordon said in a statement.
The Move Over law requires drivers approaching first responders to pass at no more than 20 miles per hour less than the posted speed limit.
