PA Turnpike Interchange Shut Down In Chester County

Officials said there was an incident Wednesday afternoon.

UWCHLAN TOWNSHIP, PA — The Downingtown Interchange of the Pennsylvania Turnpike has been shut down Wednesday afternoon following an undisclosed incident, the turnpike announced.

The incident occurred at around 3:50 p.m. as part of preparations for the upcoming demolition of the toll plaza. Officials did not further elaborate on what had occurred.

"The PA Turnpike is working to reopen the interchange as soon as possible, while ensuring the safety of both workers and motorists," the turnpike shared.

State police and PA Turnpike employees are stationed in impacted areas to help redirect and assist drivers.
