Breaking: A propane tanker overturned amidst icy conditions in Chester County on Monday afternoon, and a HazMat unit responded to the scene.

KENNETT TOWNSHIP, PA — A propane tanker overturned amidst icy conditions in Chester County on Monday afternoon, and a HazMat unit responded to the scene.

The incident occurred at around 2:33 p.m. on Montbard Drive near Kennett Pike in Kennett Township, according to Chester County Active incidents.

Oil was leaking from the engine of the tanker as crews responded to the scene.

Route 52 has been shut down between Hillendale Road and Route 1, authorities said.

A shelter in place order has also been issued for residents of Montbard Drive and Normandy Drive, Chester County Working Fires reports.

Longwood Fire Company is among the crews responding to the scene.

It's not yet clear if there are any injuries.
