Protest Against Trump Administration To Be Held In West Chester

The West Chester protest Saturday is part of a "sustained national resistance to tyranny," organizers say.

WEST CHESTER, PA — A "No Kings" event protesting President Trump's administration is being organized by high school students in West Chester this Saturday, March 28, organizers announced, as part of what they're calling a "sustained national resistance to tyranny."

It's one of thousands set across the country this week, the third round of the nationally coordinated protests which previously took place last June and October.

The West Chester event will be held on the Chester County courthouse steps from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.

All speakers at the event will be high schoolers.

“This No Kings event is important due to the empowerment of youth voices in organization and speaking,” student organizers told Patch. “In a world where youth are given little chance to come together against the norm and to voice
their opinions, this space is not only unique but critical for our country and our future.”

Specifically, protests are targeting ICE enforcement actions characterized as "brutality" by organizers, as well as other actions by Trump deemed authoritarian.

Ambler, Audubon, Phoenixville, Pottstown, Lansdale, Harleysville, West Chester, and Pennsburg are among the other towns that have protests planned.

The local event is being put together by Community for Change, one of numerous grassroots groups brought together by the national organization Indivisible.

In the first sets of No Kings protests last June and October, millions of people demonstrated against what they say are authoritarian policies of President Donald Trump. The first round of protests last summer were held on the same day as the U.S. Army 250th Anniversary Parade on Trump’s 79th birthday.

Protests will be held Saturday in every state in the country, with events planned in most major U.S. cities, as well as in Canada and Mexico. Protests are designed to be a peaceful day of action, according to the No Kings website.
