Pennsylvania Road Rage Shooting: Suspect In Custody After 3-State Search (UPDATE)

Breaking: Police say the man who fatally shot an 18-year-old woman during a road rage incident is in custody.

WEST GOSHEN, PA — The man who authorities say fatally shot an 18-year-old woman during a road rage incident in Chester County has been charged with murder. At a press conference Sunday, the Chester County District Attorney said David Desper, 28, turned himself in through his attorney early Sunday morning.

Desper faces a first-degree murder charge and there is no bail. Authorities also recovered the red pickup truck, a Chevy Silverado, they say Desper was in when the shooting happened. The truck was recovered in Delaware County and towed back to the West Goshen police department.

Chester County District Attorney Tom Hogan called the shooting a "savage, senseless, brutal" act. Asked whether the shooting was possibly motivated by race, Hogan said they had no indication that it was a hate crime.

Roberson was killed in the area of Route 100 just north of Route 202 at approximately 5:30 p.m., police said. Officers initially believed it was serious car crash that killed Roberson, but further investigation revealed that she suffered a fatal gunshot wound to the head.

A recent high school graduate, Roberson was on her way to college in Florida. Hogan said he had spoken with Roberson's family and they were present during Sunday's press conference.

"For those who do not know her she was an amazing young woman with a bright future and true potential," a GoFundMe page set up for Roberson by a friend says. "A young woman who was college bound in a few weeks Jacksonville University. Bianca was not just a friend but a little sister to me, the news was devastating."

Police released surveillance video from the scene and several photos of the truck in an effort to identify the suspect.

Authorities thanked the media and those who shared the surveillance footage and photos on social media to help find the suspect.

A $5,000 reward was being offered for information that leads to an arrest, police announced Friday.

Police said tips had been coming in from across the country, including as far away as Texas.

"Every cop in three states is looking for this red pickup truck and looking for this defendant," Chester County District Attorney Tom Hogan said during a press conference Thursday. "At this point we're asking anybody who saw anything on Route 100 going into Route 202 to call the West Goshen Police Department right now, tonight. Give us every bit of information you can."
