WEST CHESTER, PA — A West Chester resident has made it to the national stage.
Jackie Verna competed on NBC's "The Voice" this week, impressing national audiences with her country singing and advancing on to the next rounds of the show.
"That's the best country singing that I've heard, I don't care what any of those guys said," Adam Levine, of Maroon 5 fame, told Jackie after her performance of Kelsea Ballerini's "Peter Pan" during Tuesday night's episode. Levine chose Verna for his team during the blind audition portion of the competition.

Verna, 23, grew up in Sicklerville, New Jersey and grew up wanting to be a college cheerleader. However, a car accident in 2012 - she was hit by a car that ran a red light - left her with serious injuries and doubts about her future.
Verna wound up heading to Penn State. As she recovered she began playing the keyboard her aunt has given to her as a gift, and she quickly took to country music. While at Penn State, she began performing at local open mics. An application to "The Voice" followed shortly thereafter.
