West Bradford Fire Company Launches Volunteer Recruitment Campaign: “Make the Choice. Be the Change.”

West Bradford Township…When an emergency call comes in, West Bradford Fire Company volunteers don’t wait for someone else to respond. They leave their homes, jobs, families and daily routines behind to answer the call.

In 2025 alone, West Bradford Fire Company responded to 417 calls. The 100% volunteer fire company serves approximately 18,000 residents across 32 square miles. Volunteers spent more than 1,278 hours in service to the community—responding to emergencies, training, participating in community events, and maintaining apparatus.

Now, West Bradford Fire Company is asking its community to make a choice of its own.

The company has launched a new volunteer recruitment website, www.WestBradfordFirefighters.org and a campaign theme built around the message “Make the Choice. Be the Change.”

“Make the Choice. Be the Change.” was developed by West Bradford volunteers during a visioning session, but it is more than a recruitment slogan. It is an invitation to residents to consider how their own talents, interests and time could help strengthen and safeguard the community.

The new recruitment website provides ways to volunteer, answers frequently asked questions, profiles current members and provides an inquiry section. Providing contact information will result in a chance to tour the fire company, meet members and learn about getting involved.

To drive people to the website, West Bradford Fire Company will be using social media, lawn signs, in-person recruitment events, press releases and video. Efforts are being spearheaded with the assistance of The Communication Solutions Group, a communication firm that helps run fire company recruitment campaigns in PA and NJ.

An Active Fire Company Training to Serve and Save Lives

West Bradford Fire Company is much more than a group of firefighters waiting for the next emergency.

Members train regularly to be prepared for the wide range of situations they may encounter. They respond to emergency calls, participate in community activities, attend events and continually work to maintain the skills, equipment and organization necessary to serve West Bradford Township.

And behind every emergency response is a team of people performing jobs that residents may never see. Most started with no experience, but training and gear were provided at no charge. Volunteers come from all walks of life, all professionals and they range in age from teens to senior citizens.

“Volunteering looks different for everyone, and there are a lot of ways to get involved,” said Chief Law. “We hope this campaign gives residents a better idea of what being part of West Bradford Fire Company is all about—and helps people see that whatever their interests or abilities, they may have something valuable to contribute.”

Ways to Volunteer

There are many ways that local residents can make the choice to be the change. They include:

Senior Firefighter

Build your skills through advanced training classes like Firefighter II, take on leadership opportunities and help develop the next generation of firefighters.

Apprentice

Volunteers ages 16+ learn exterior firefighting skills and train alongside experienced members. You will pull hose lines, carry ladders and help others at the fire scene. Participate in drills and fire academy courses at no charge to you while working toward interior firefighting certification.

Junior Firefighter

Teens as young as 14 participate in training sessions and build experience. You will also assist at events, parades and more.

Fire Police

Assist with traffic control and scene safety. You will help keep emergency operations safe and organized. Basic Fire Police training is provided at no cost for you.

Administrative Volunteer

Support the department through behind-the-scenes work such as fundraising and event planning efforts. Help keep the department running while developing professional skills and progressing toward leadership roles.

West Bradford Fire Company is a 100% volunteer organization dedicated to serving the community through fire suppression, vehicle rescue and other forms of emergency response.
