WEST CHESTER, PA — West Chester Area School District has been named to the College Board's AP District Honor Roll, recognizing achievement in Advanced Placement courses.
The district is among three districts in Chester County, 43 in Pennsylvania, and 447 nationwide to be included on the eighth annual list.
The Honor Roll recognizes schools that increase access to the tests for underrepresented students, while also increasing how many students earn scores of at least 3 or higher (the tests are scored 1 to 5).

In order to be named to the honor roll, school districts had to improve participation in AP exams by four percent in large districts, six percent in medium districts, and eleven percent in large districts. They also needed to increase or maintain the percentage of minorities taking the exam and scoring 3 or higher. Finally, they needed to increase the percentage of students overall who scored a 3 or higher - unless 70 percent of students had already achieved that score or higher in a previous year.
In Chester County, only Owen J. Roberts was named to the list in 2016.
This year, more than 4,000 colleges and universities around the world received AP scores for college credit, advanced placement, or both, and/or consideration in the admissions process. Inclusion in the 8th Annual AP District Honor Roll is based on a review of three years of AP data, from 2015 to 2017, looking across 38 AP Exams, including world language and culture.
