West Chester Area School District Ranks #25 of 495 in Pennsylvania

WEST CHESTER, PA —West Chester Area High School ranked #25 out of 495 school districts in Pennsylvania, according to the 2023 rankings provided recently by Niche, an educational platform, headquartered in Pittsburgh.

The district received an overall grade of A+. It ranked #8 out of 495 in athletics.

The district covers Bayard Rustin, Henderson and East high schools; three middle schools and five elementary schools. It has 11,972 students.

According to the state test scores, 64% of the students are at least proficient in math and 80% in reading.

The district offers AP classes and gifted programs.

Niche said in a report that the rankings were created to provide families with valuable information — both quantitative and qualitative — on schools in their area or in a neighborhood they’re not familiar with yet.

The district was rated #3 in Chester County.

Overall, the district earned an A+ in academics, sports, and college prep. The district received an A in teachers, clubs and activities, and administration, an A- in food; and a B in diversity and resources and facilities.

Niche said its rankings differ from others that rely almost exclusively on test scores and academic performance in that it also includes input from students, alumni and parents, as well as quantitative data from sources such as the U.S. Department of Education to evaluate teachers, resources and facilities.
