West Chester Native Named Big 10 Defensive Player Of The Year

The hometown hero is doing big things on the national stage.

It’s an autumn of decoration for Penn State defensive lineman and Malvern Prep graduate Carl Nassib.

The West Chester resident was named recipient of the Big 10 defensive player of the year award on Monday night.

Nassib is also in consideration for several other national merits for his play this season.

He’s made it to the final round for the Nagurski Trophy, which is awarded to the best defensive player in the NCAA.

Nassib is also one of three Penn State defensive lineman that were on the Bednarik Award “Watch List” in preliminary rounds. The Bednarik Award has been presented by the Maxwell Football Club to the College Defensive Player of the Year since 1995.

Nassib was the only one of his teammates to become a semifinalist, an honor accorded to only 20 players nationwide.
