WEST CHESTER, PA — Due to the impending storm on Thursday, West Chester has postponed trick or treating in the borough to Friday.
The police department said that it will be held from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
West Chester is one of just a few local municipalities to make a formal proclamation on Halloween trick or treating.

The weather has clouded an already murky situation for some reasons. Many municipalities have no formal Halloween rules, and thus have declined to make any formal announcement on when trick or treating should or should not happen. They simply encourage residents to exercise caution.
Other towns enforce curfews on Halloween, some have looser curfews, and some go as far as to declare trick or treating or Halloween activities take place on a day other than Oct. 31.

Nearby, in Pottstown, Mayor Stephanie Henrick has created an online poll to see when residents prefer to hold trick or treating.
Other municipalities, like Exeter, have already switched their trick or treating to Wednesday.
Also increasingly popular are "trunk or treats," where area businesses and organizations gather in a large parking lot or similar area and disperse candy to children from their trunks.
