WEST CHESTER, PA — One local restaurant is offering a unique spin on the five-course meal, infusing dishes with CBD.

Chefs and owners Dan Merola and John Hearn at West Chester's Root Cafe are the first to offer it in the Philadelphia area, they said.

Some swear by the so-called medicinal benefits of CBD, which include easing anxiety, relieving seizures associated with epilepsy, helping with insomnia, and easing other ailments.

"Every day, CBD gets more and more popular, and it’s legal in Pennsylvania now,” the pair said in a statement announcing "Chefs in Philadelphia have been utilizing CBD for a while and we wanted to provide local diners the opportunity to experience this food trend. It has so many health benefits and we want people to feel good when they experience Roots Café— this is just another way to do that."

A total of 10 milligrams of cannabidiol will be divided among the courses. The courses will each also be available without CBD.
