WEST CHESTER, PA -- The clerk at a West Chester Rite Aid was assaulted during a recent armed robbery, and $5,000 reward is being offered, police said.

The suspect, a black male, entered the store on 1307 Phoenixville Pike early Friday morning, authorities said.

The man, armed with a handgun, forced the clerk to hand over money from the cash register, according to police.

The suspect then beat the employee before fleeing the store toward Phoenixville Pike.

The suspect is described as between 5 foot 9 and 5 foot 11, and between 180 and 190 pounds, according to police.

Rite Aid is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the suspect's arrest and conviction.
