When did you go into business: "I opened The Brow Bar last month but I just kind of fell into it when looking for a part time job. Here were are two years and 385 clients later."
How did you come up with the name? "I could have definitely been more creative with the name, however I like the simplicity of it and people tend to be more interested when they see the word 'bar'. It's kind of a play on words since we have complimentary beer and/or wine."
Why start a business here? "I fell in love with West Chester when I accepted my previous job at QVC and once my career with eyebrows took off I realized that there wasn't anywhere in the area that really focused on my line of work. I'm originally from Lancaster so I felt like it was a great middle ground between there and Philly so I get quite a diverse clientele. And with the college so close, the students can walk and I wanted the convenience for them as well."
Briefly, what business are you in? "Cosmetology."
What’s the most difficult moment or challenge you’ve faced as a business owner? "Well, we had a fire just three short weeks before our grand opening but that was more labor than anything. I struggle daily with my age. Apparently being successful at 23 years old is not "normal" therefore I feel as though I constantly have to prove myself when in reality it just simply comes down to hard work. It really does pay off."
What's been your favorite moment/proudest achievement since opening?
How does your business give back/get involved in the community?
"I immediately joined The Chamber because I think it's so important to stick together with the other small business owners in town. I have a weakness for Old Soul Decor on Market Street and I also carry two local retailers within my shop - Tesoro and Twig."
