West Chester University Sophomore Football Player Dies

West Chester University confirmed Monday that a sophomore on the football team has died.

WEST CHESTER, PA — A West Chester University sophomore and member of the Golden Rams football team has passed away, the school confirmed Monday afternoon.

It's not yet clear what led to the death of Sean Boylan, a native of Chalfont and graduate of Archbishop Ryan High School.

"Our hearts are heavy with the tragic news of the death of sophomore Sean Boylan. Sean’s untimely passing is a great loss for our community," Christopher Fiorentino, interim president at West Chester University, said in a statement. "I know you join me in extending heartfelt condolences and support to Sean’s family and friends, including his Golden Rams Football teammates. A hallmark of West Chester University is our capacity to help one another in times of adversity and loss. This is one of those moments. I look to all of you to provide strength to those who need it now and in the days that will follow."
