West Chester's Beloved Mad Platter Shuts Down
The beloved local music store has closed its doors after 42 years.

WEST CHESTER, PA — A beloved local music shop in West Chester has shut its doors after 42 years in business.
The Mad Platter, located on Gay Street, has been operating since 1976. State Sen. Andy Dinniman called the store a "borough institution."
"Sad to see it go," Dinniman wrote in a Facebook post. "I'll miss walking by and seeing the great handmade window displays showing the latest releases. Gay Street and West Chester just won't be the same."

The shop sold all kinds of music paraphernalia, ranging from vintage guitars to vinyl records and the latest CD releases.
"Thank you all for the overwhelmingly kind words regarding our departure," the store wrote. "The response was more than we ever imagined and we will miss you all more than we can even process now, but it makes us feel humbled and sad/glad at the same time."

Owners said this past weekend marked the final days of business, but that there may be a pop up sale at some point before the end of July.
