West Whiteland Man Dies At 20; Donated Organs Save 7 Recipients
"Frank's choice to become an organ donor has provided seven individuals, from an infant to a 70-year-old, another chance at life."

WEST WHITELAND, PA — When a Chester County man passed away just days before his 21st birthday, a bright and widely loved young soul was lost far too soon.
But in death, Frank Detweiler, 20, the son of West Whiteland Township Police Officer Robert Detweiler, gave the gift of life.
Frank was an organ donor, and his organs have gone on give life to six individuals a second chance at life.

“While we lost one beautiful soul, many others will be saved," the Detweiler family said.

- Heart - man in his 40s
- Kidney and pancreas - diabetic man in his 40s
- Kidney - man in his 70s who donated a kidney when he was younger and is only compatible with one percent of the population
- Right Lung - woman in her 60s, in the hospital and couldn't breathe on her own
- Left Lung - sent to research due to a concussion in the base
- Liver - split
- Right - man in early 60s
- Left - an infant girl

Frank Detweiler, 20, of Downingtown, passed away on Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at Paoli Hospital. Although his spirit has moved on, he will be helping many individuals in need of organ transplants.
He is loved by his parents, Robert T. and Janice L. DeMucci Detweiler; siblings, Sophia, Alastair and Brogan; maternal grandmother, Louise B. DeMucci; Luke and Beth Ferracone; Aunts; Uncles; and many other cousins. Frank was predeceased by his maternal grandfather, Frank N. DeMucci and by his paternal grandparents, Roy R. and Joan M. Detweiler.
Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, August 14, 2017 at St. Agnes Church, 233 W. Gay Street, West Chester, where family and friends were received from 8:30-9:30 a.m..
Interment is in St. Agnes Cemetery, West Chester.
