Young West Chester Actress featured in "Annie"

Lauren McAlee is featured in the children's ensemble of "Annie" at the Walnut Street Theatre

Leapin’ Lizards! Young talent from the West Chester region will be featured in the Walnut Street Theatre’s production of the Tony-Award winning musical ANNIE, playing now through January 7.

ANNIE is a spunky orphan in 1930s New York City determined to find her parents. In one fun-filled adventure after another, ANNIE foils Miss Hannigan's evil schemes, befriends President Roosevelt and finds a new home with billionaire Oliver Warbucks, his personal secretary Grace and a lovable mutt named Sandy.

Lauren McAlee, a student at the Center for Performing and Fine Arts, makes her Walnut debut in the children’s ensemble in all weeknight performances of the musical. She recently finished a run of Carousel and a Vocalist Contest at the Media Theatre.

McAlee is 100% deaf in her left ear, but does not let that stop her from performing. She relies on her “supersonic” right ear that works twice as hard to pick up even the slightest whispers.

McAlee is a member of the Theatre School at Walnut Street Theatre, along with all 25 of her orphan cast-mates.
