Wilkes-Barre man to be sentenced for toddler's death (citizensvoice.com) — A Wilkes-Barre man who admitted causing the fatal injuries of 11‑month‑old Eric Eppler Jr. is now scheduled to be sentenced on Sept. 10 in Luzerne County Court. The toddler died after being flown to Geisinger Medical Center, and the defendant remains free on bond after pleading guilty to involuntary manslaughter.
   

3. DEP Invites Comments On Stormwater Permit For PPL Electric Harwood To Harleigh Substation Transmission Line Project In Luzerne County (blogspot.com) — State environmental regulators are taking public comments through September 21 on a stormwater permit for a PPL Electric transmission line upgrade in Luzerne County, with submissions directed to DEP's Northeast Regional Office on Public Square in Wilkes-Barre. The project would add a second 230 kV circuit to support AI data center development, and residents can request a hearing or review the file in person at the Wilkes-Barre office.
   

4. Geisinger School of Medicine holds White Coat Ceremony (citizensvoice.com) — Two Wilkes-Barre residents, Rachael Sennett and Benjamin Yelland, were among the local students receiving white coats at Geisinger College of Health Sciences' School of Medicine ceremony in Scranton. The article traces how Northeastern Pennsylvania regiments, including the 143rd Pennsylvania organized in Wilkes-Barre and the "Luzerne Regiment," suffered heavy losses at Gettysburg, Antietam, and other major battles, underscoring the region's deep connection to the war.
