• 'Never forget': NEPA fire chiefs reflect on 9/11 (thetimes-tribune.com) — Wilkes-Barre Fire Chief Jay Delaney shares vivid memories of traveling to New York City after 9/11 and how that experience still shapes how he leads the city's firefighters today. Local and regional chiefs reflect on the sacrifice of 343 FDNY members, the ongoing health toll, and the lessons of unity and responsibility they now pass to younger firefighters.
• Two new officers join ranks of Wilkes-Barre Police Department (citizensvoice.com) — Two newly sworn officers are joining the Wilkes-Barre Police Department, with Mayor George Brown administering their oaths at City Hall and Chief Mike Boyle welcoming them to the force. Both recruits bring local ties, education, and public-safety experience, and will complete Act 120 training before beginning field work on city streets in April 2027.
• HS FOOTBALL: Physical Valley View knocks off Wilkes-Barre Area (thetimes-tribune.com) — Wilkes-Barre Area's football team fell 17-7 to a physical Valley View squad at Wolfpack Stadium in Plains Township, with the Wolfpack's offense held largely in check until a late touchdown. Coaches and players on both sides described a hard-hitting game decided by a few big plays, as Wilkes-Barre Area dropped to 0-3 on the season.
