Fall is officially here in Wilkes-Barre, and there's no shortage of ways to make the most of it. From festivals and farmers markets to pumpkin patches, live music and other seasonal fun, October brings plenty of reasons to get out and enjoy what's happening close to home.
Here are some events and activities happening in and around Wilkes-Barre this October.

When: Sunday, Oct. 25, 12 p.m.–2 p.m.
Where: Public Square, Downtown, Wilkes-Barre, PA
Celebrate Halloween downtown during Halloween Trick or Treating on Public Square, hosted annually by the City of Wilkes-Barre. Local businesses and organizations have historically participated in the family-friendly afternoon of trick-or-treating around Public Square and downtown. The city is still finalizing additional details for the 2026 event, so check its website for updates as Halloween approaches.
When: Fridays through Sundays, Oct. 2–31, 6–9 p.m.
Where: The Dome Sportsplex, 131 Bear Creek Blvd., Wilkes-Barre, PA
Get into the Halloween spirit at Haunted Nights, a family-friendly experience taking over The Dome Sportsplex on weekends throughout October. The completely indoor attraction features a haunted walk-through, scavenger hunt and treats and candy along the way, with costumes welcome. Tickets are available online, and $4 from each ticket sold benefits local youth programs, with $2 each going to NECA Soccer Club and EFS NEXT Academy.

Where: Downtown Wilkes-Barre, PA
Downtown Wilkes-Barre becomes "Wilkes-Scarre" for Wilkes-Scarre 2026, a multi-day celebration bringing Halloween events to venues around the city. This year's lineup is expected to include trunk-or-treats, haunted attractions, nightlife events and more. The complete 2026 schedule and individual event details are still being announced, so keep an eye on the Wilkes-Scarre event page for the most up-to-date info.
When: Saturdays and Sundays, Oct. 3–Nov. 1, 11 a.m.–6 p.m.
Where: Maylath Farm & Orchard, 599 Rock Glen Road, Sugarloaf, PA
Down the road in Sugarloaf, you'll find the Maylath Farm Fall Festival, held every Saturday and Sunday throughout October and into November. Visitors can take on the farm's 10-acre interactive corn maze, catch a hayride to the pumpkin patch, visit the animal feeding area and enjoy attractions including train rides, slides, pony rides and activities for younger children. Attractions are priced individually, including $5–7 for the corn maze and $2 for hayrides, so families can choose which activities to add to their visit.
When: Thursdays through Nov. 12, 10 a.m.–3 p.m.
Where: Public Square, Wilkes-Barre, PA
Shop locally through the month at the Wilkes-Barre City Farmers Market, held every Thursday on Public Square. The long-running downtown market brings farm stands, prepared-food vendors and other local sellers to the heart of Wilkes-Barre each week. The 2026 season continues through Thursday, Nov. 12, giving shoppers several more opportunities after October to visit.
