Attorney seeks exclusion of body cam footage during Wilkes-Barre homicide trial (timesleader.com) — A Wilkes-Barre man facing trial next week in the stabbing death of Scott Edward Knox is asking a judge to block graphic police body cam footage from being shown to jurors. The motion follows a co-defendant's conviction and life sentence, as other participants have already pleaded to reduced murder charges in the 2024 incident.
   

2. PUC approves settlement substantially reducing rate changes for UGI gas division (timesleader.com) — Wilkes-Barre residents who get natural gas from UGI will see smaller, phased-in bill increases after state regulators cut the company's requested hike by about a third. New rates start this month and again next year, while the settlement also expands low-income assistance, arrearage forgiveness options, and gas safety initiatives statewide.
   

3. Babe Ruth honored with plaque in Kirby Park (2822news.com) — Wilkes-Barre is celebrating Babe Ruth's legendary 650-foot home run with a new plaque in Kirby Park and a centennial "Sultan of SWAT" home run derby on Saturday, Oct. 10. Local tourism and sports leaders say the milestone highlights a unique piece of baseball history rooted right in Luzerne County.
   

4. 'Wife Swap' Star James 'Princess' Cuda Died At Sober House (tmz.com) — A reality TV personality from "Wife Swap," James "Princess" Cuda, died August 30 at a sober house in Wilkes-Barre, with the Luzerne County coroner ruling the cause as sudden cardiac death and finding no drugs or alcohol. Friends say he had struggled with alcohol, and they had been trying to support his recovery.
