Wright Center For Community Health Names New Infectious Disease Medical Director
Mary Louise Decker, M.D., has joined The Wright Center for Community Health as Infectious Disease Medical Director.

Scranton, Pa. (July 10, 2020) - Mary Louise Decker, M.D., a prominent, board-certified physician with more than 20 years experience in private practice treating adults with common and complex infections, has joined The Wright Center for Community Health as Infectious Disease Medical Director.
At The Wright Center, Dr. Decker will oversee the care of patients facing a wide variety of issues including multisystemic infections, such as HIV/AIDS and Lyme disease; infections related to travel; fever of unknown origin; skin, soft tissue, wound and bone infections; infections caused by multi-drug resistant bacteria, such as MRSA; C-diff colitis; viral hepatitis and tuberculosis.
In this new role, Dr. Decker will lead The Wright Center’s HIV and infectious disease prevention efforts and also oversee The Wright Center’s Ryan White HIV/AIDS program. The Wright Center offers a full continuum of care to people living with HIV/AIDS in Northeast Pennsylvania, including Lackawanna, Luzerne, Wyoming, Wayne, Susquehanna, Pike and Monroe counties. Dr. Decker will serve as the clinical leader for robust care teams that include nurse practitioners, physician assistants, case managers, nurses and peer support navigators. Additionally, she will provide educational instruction as physician-faculty to Wright Center residents and fellows, and promote programs for staff and physicians-in-training.
A Shavertown resident and King’s College graduate, Dr. Decker earned her medical degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine. She completed her residency in internal medicine and her fellowship in infectious diseases at Georgetown University Medical Center, Washington, D.C. She is a member of the Infectious Diseases Society of America and the Pennsylvania Society of Medicine, and has served as an Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine at Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine and as a lecturer for The Wright Center for Graduate Medical Education’s Regional Family Medicine Residency Program.
