LOWER MAKEFIELD TOWNSHIP, PA — The township has received a $25,000 state grant to help preserve and better understand its local history.
State Rep. Perry Warren and Sen. Steve Santasiero worked to secure the funding through the Pennsylvania State Historic Preservation Office.
"Lower Makefield has a rich story to tell, and this investment helps us continue uncovering and protecting it for future generations," officials said.
The grant will fund the second phase of a township-wide historic survey.
The first phase focused on buildings from before 1900 — and it was a great success, officials said.
"Now, we’re turning our attention to homes, buildings, and neighborhoods from 1900 through 1945, along with other sites that are at least 50 years old, including areas shaped by the post–World War II housing boom," officials said.
