YARDLEY / MORRISVILLE BOROUGHS, PA — Yardley and Morrisville boroughs will be holding Memorial Day celebrations this holiday weekend.
In Morrisville, the parade begins at 9 a.m. on Monday at the Morrisville Presbyterian Church on North Pennsylvania Avenue.

In Yardley, starting at 7 a.m. on Monday, rifle salutes will be issued at Slate Hill, St. Ignatius, and St. Andrews cemeteries, before the Yardley Borough Hall and at the LMT Veterans Monument.
Observers are invited to attend the short and historical ceremonies. Attendees need only wait at a location for the Honor Guard to pass through or follow the troop convoy leaving from American Legion Post 317.
MAIN STREET MEMORIAL MILE
The 1-mile race to benefit American Legion Post 317 will begin at the former Wells Fargo Bank, and end at The Friends Meeting House.
Runners must pre-register for this timed event. Kids heat (6-14) starts at 7:30 a.m., the adult heat at 7:45 a.m.
Memorial Day Ceremony
Official honoring ceremonies begin at 9 a.m. at the Yardley monument (intersection of Afton Avenue and Delaware Avenue) across from the Yardley Inn.
The 45-minute ceremony includes a special keynote speech by U.S. Army Lt. Colonel (Ret) Jon Pfender, the placing of wreaths, the reading of Flanders Fields, and the introduction of Poppy Queens Blair Greene and Molly Maurstad as well as a rifle salute.
Memorial Day Parade Plans
Steps off at 11 a.m. at North Main Street and McKinley Avenue, ending at American Legion Post 317.
Officials said the days' events are both educational and historical. They effectively demonstrate the efforts of veterans, the community, and the government to promote Americanism and pay proper regard to all who made the ultimate sacrifice so that we all may live in freedom.
VFW Post 6393 and American Legion Post 317 will be open for supporters and community visitors throughout the day.
