Loaded Smith & Wesson Found In Traffic Stop: Lower Makefield Crimes

LOWER MAKEFIELD TOWNSHIP, PA — The Lower Makefield Township Police Department has released its blotter of criminal incidents for the past week.

Sept. 24

FRAUD:

• 700 block of Long Acre Lane, reported at 12:24 p.m. The complainant reported that an unknown person(s) intercepted a check and altered it. Total loss was $5,000.

• 1700 block of Mulberry Way, reported at 4:34 p.m. The complainant reported receiving a virus message on the computer and contacted the number provided. A man requested $53,000, which was sent. The man then attempted to have the victim send $173,000.00, when they realized it was a scam.

WEAPONS ARREST — Route 1 and Oxford Valley Road, reported at 9:20 p.m. While on patrol, police observed a stolen Dodge Charger in the area. A felony car stop was conducted and the 37-year-old man from Willingboro, N.J., was taken into police custody. A search of the vehicle revealed a loaded, unregistered Smith & Wesson firearm with an extended magazine. The man was charged with Receiving Stolen Property and Weapons Offenses. He was arraigned by Judge Kronnagel and sent to BCCF in lieu of $50,000/10 percent bail.

FRAUD:

• 600 block of Friar Drive, reported at 1:07 p.m. The complainant reported receiving multiple two factor authentication codes and requests for monetary transfers of $19,800 and $23,100 to unknown accounts. They were able to stop these transfers and suffered no monetary loss. Investigation ongoing.

• 1300 block of Pepperbush Court, reported at 2:57 p.m. The complainant reported posting furniture on Facebook marketplace for sale. An interested buyer claimed to need assistance setting up an account to send payment and provided a phone number, which the victim called. After being disconnected, the victim received a call back from a different number and was asked to provide personal and financial information. As a result, $1,000 was taken from the victim's Wells Fargo account and transferred to a Strive account.

• 900 block of Lanyard Road, reported at 8:34 p.m. The complainant reported receiving a phone call from an unknown person(s) advising they won $500 million and asked for their banking information. This was recognized as a scam and no information was provided.

SOLICITING WITHOUT PERMIT — Oxford Valley Road and Emerald Drive, reported at 1:52 p.m. The complainant reported solicitor for Omari Exteriors soliciting without a permit. They were advised to cease soliciting until a permit was obtained.

DRUG ARREST — Woodside Road and Taylorsville Road, reported at 3:19 p.m. Police on patrol stopped a vehicle for violations. Further investigation led to the arrest of the 28 year old male driver from Philadelphia for Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Possession of Marijuana. He was taken into police custody.

RETAIL THEFT — 900 block of Vansant Drive at Wegmans, reported at 5:14 p.m. Loss Prevention detained a 38-year-old man from Abington for taking $119.55 worth of merchandise without paying. He was taken into police custody.

Sept. 22

THEFT FROM VEHICLE — 900 block of Summerville Way, reported at 12:49 p.m. The complainant reported that sometime overnight, an unknown person(s) entered the unlocked vehicle and removed the key fob and a ring. The incident was witnessed by an individual who did not call police. It was also caught on surveillance, showing a stolen vehicle was involved.

RETAIL THEFT — 1600 block of Big Oak Road at Shop Rite, reported at 12:30 p.m. Loss Prevention reported a retail theft not in progress by a known female on 8 separate occasions between 8/8 – 9/12. Loss Prevention then called back stating the female entered the store and was currently concealing items. Police located the 62-year-old township woman at self-checkout and observed concealed items in her purse. Investigation revealed a total loss of $271.66 during the 9 thefts. She was taken into police custody for Retail Theft. She was arraigned by Judge Kronnagel and released on $5,000 of unsecured bail.

Sept. 21

RETAIL THEFT — 500 block of W. Trenton Avenue at CVS, reported at 10:31 a.m. An employee reported that a man entered the store and removed $99.01 worth of merchandise without paying. He fled on a blue bicycle. Morrisville police officers detained the 32 year old male from Toms River, NJ until LMT Police arrived on scene. While searching the male, police located 5 wax paper envelopes containing Heroin. He was taken into police custody and charged with Retail Theft, Possession of Heroin and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. He was arraigned by Judge Kronnagel and remanded to BCCF in lieu of $25,000 bond.

Sept. 20

THEFT FROM VEHICLE — 1800 block of Windflower Lane, reported at 11:05 a.m. The complainant reported sometime overnight between 9/18-9/18, unknown person(s) entered the unlocked vehicle and removed a YMS soccer bag with cleats, a jersey and shin guards.
