Lower Makefield Police said the vandalism took place before 8:22 a.m. on Tuesday when someone scratched the memorial glass displaying the last names in the "S" through "W" sections.

"This memorial is a place of remembrance, reflection, and respect for the lives lost on Sept. 11, 2001," police said.

The Garden of Reflection was created as a place of remembrance, reflection, and healing for the community since its dedication on the fifth anniversary of the attacks in 2006.

It serves as Pennsylvania's memorial to the 9/11 attacks, honoring the 2,977 victims, with special recognition of the 18 victims from Bucks County, including nine from Lower Makefield Township.

The memorial organization was founded by Ellen Saracini, whose husband, Captain Victor Saracini, was the pilot of United Airlines Flight 175.

Police are asking for the community's assistance in identifying those responsible.

Anyone with information, or who may have observed suspicious activity at or near the memorial, should contact Detective R. Meehl at 267-274-1163 or submit a tip online at https://crimewatch.net/.../lower.../17384/submit-tip.
