LOWER MAKEFIELD TOWNSHIP, PA — A deputy attorney general for the state of New Jersey is in custody for child pornography possession, authorities said.
Brian Richard Fitzgerald — a Deputy Attorney General for the New Jersey Attorney General's Office who lives in Lower Makefield — was arrested at his home on Thursday morning on charges related to AI-generated child sexual abuse material.
He was charged with the possession of child sexual abuse material, dissemination of photos or film of child sexual abuse materials, and criminal use of a communication facility.
Fitzgerald was arraigned and sent to Bucks County Prison after bail was set at $2 million. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for later this month.
The Bucks County District Attorney's Office said Fitzgerald, 51, used artificial intelligence to generate child pornography and then displayed it on several social media platforms.
Authorities said he also acquired child sexual abuse material depicting real children through another social media platform and shared that as well.
A criminal complaint stated that authorities received a CyberTip from the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children on July 10 linked to his home address.
