YARDLEY BOROUGH, PA — Canal-O-Ween — a borough tradition — kicks off this weekend with the annual Carve-O-Thon.
Experience Yardley, the event's organizers, will hold the carving of hundreds of pumpkins from Noon to 3 p.m. on Sunday.
And then, starting Sunday night, the pumpkins will light up along the Delaware Canal through Halloween.
Canal-O-Ween has taken place in the borough for over 15 years.
Carve-O-Thon typically takes place at the corner of Morgan and Fuld Avenue (in the Rivermar neighborhood north of Afton Avenue between the Delaware River and Delaware Canal).
Last year, over 400 pre-gutted pumpkins (done by volunteers) were waiting for families to carve up.
Residents and visitors can then enjoy the beauty of the autumn season as they stroll along the Delaware Canal, seeing the creativity of the individually carved Jack-O-Lanterns on display.
The main sponsor this year is the Yardley Borough Parks and Recreation Department, which is providing the pumpkins.
