YARDLEY, PA — Yardley Borough Police officer Adam Clark couldn't secure a victory on his episode of "Jeopardy!" that aired Thursday night. But his clever nod to a big Philly win no doubt earned him a legion of local fans.

Competing on the iconic trivia game show, Clark — who also has a "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?" win under his belt — hit on a Daily Double. Pondering the category "One-Word Book Titles," Clark wagered an unusual amount: $4,133.

Asked by host Alex Trebek if there was any significance to the unique bet, Clark gave an answer that no doubt sparked joy among Philly sports fans.

"It's the Eagles' Super Bowl victory score," Clark said.

The Philadelphia Eagles defeated the New England Patriots in Super Bowl LII, 41-33.

Unfortunately, he had less luck with his response. The clue was this: "This 1974 James Michener novel covers centuries, not just one significant year, in the history of Colorado." Clark guessed, "Gold." The correct response was, "Centennial."

After Final Jeopardy, Clark found himself in second place with $6,533 — well behind a streaking Jason Zuffranieri, a New Mexico teacher whose $18,800 brought his 15-day total to $418,343.

Clark did have one other moment to shine during the show's interview portion, when he told Trebek about saving some Yardley ducklings.

"Mama duck had lost them down a sewer grate so we had to get a truck with a winch to come in and lift up the grate," Clark said. "I hopped down there. I rescued all the adorable, fluffy little buggers, reunited them with their mom, and we did not charge her with parental negligence. So she got away with that one."

"Jeopardy!" airs locally on WPVI-TV/6ABC at 7 p.m. weeknights.
