Canal O' Ween 2019 In Yardley Starts Oct. 27
The borough's annual carve-a-thon will prepare for a stroll along the Delaware Canal featuring hundreds of jack-o-lanterns.

YARDLEY, PA — Spooky season is upon us again and, in Yardley, that means it's almost time to start carving.
Canal 'O Ween, the borough's annual Halloween tradition, kicks off with the 11th annual "carve-o-thon" on Sunday, Oct. 27. From noon-3 p.m., families will gather to carve 250-350 pumpkins into jack-o-lanterns.
The event will be held at either the Rivermawr Green, at the corner of Maple and Morgan avenues, or at the PECO lot on Fuld Avenue. Both locations are in the Rivermawr neighborhood. Parking will be on Morgan Avenue or in the PECO lot, at the corner of Morgan and Fuld avenues.

Anyone who would like to participate in the carving is asked to bring a pumpkin or two and carving tools, if you have them. Pumpkins and tools also will be available for those who don't have their own.
Hot dogs and hot cider will be served during the carving, along with some sweet treats and snacks. There will be a portable bathroom on site. There will be tents in case of rain, but participants are urged to dress for the weather.

Immediately fter the carve-o-thon, jack-o-lanterns will be set out along a quarter-mile span of the Delaware Canal. Volunteers are being sought to help. You can get information by visiting the Canal O' Ween website.
The Canal 'O Ween Jack-O-Lantern stroll begins at 6 p.m. on Oct. 27 and runs until 10 p.m. This year, the stroll will run through Saturday, Nov. 2.
- The stroll on the towpath runs north from the East Afton Avenue Bridge to the end of North Edgewater Avenue.
- Visitors are advised to lock their car doors and wear comfortable shoes.
- Anyone bringing flashlights is asked to cover them in red cellophane.
- Parking is available at the PECO substation at Morgan and Fuld avenues. You must park parallel to the canal. Parking on Morgan Avenue between Maple Avenue and Brown Street will be limited to one side. There will be no parking allowed on Maple Avenue. Signs will be posted.
- The stroll can be enjoyed by foot, wheelchair or stroller.
- Drivers are urged to look out for pedestrians and pedestrians are encouraged to use sidewalks and crosswalks.
